Anti-Racism Work is a Full-time Job

When do we ever
get time off: a chance
to relax, inhale, exhale;
reflect; dissect the day's
events, wins, losses?

It costs us time, energy,
stamina. Anti-racism work
is full-time.

We don't have moments
enough to ourselves while
racist actions are taking place

sometimes where we might
least expect it, or when a Black
life is disconnected

from this Earth. It hurts! This
work when we need it to
change things, to create equity,
to

turn things around. Around we
find ourselves with disappointment,
disbelief, pain, grief. We may watch

a police chief announce a law
enforcement officer's terrorism

was justified

learning another person of color
died - denied being amongst the living.

So much of ourselves we are giving.

The ancestors are spiritually witnessing
us fight, and fight, and fight, and fight,
and fight, and fight, and fight, and fight

for the same treatment and rights
they fought for. But, we give more
and more, and more, and more, and
more, and more, and more sometimes
wondering

what for?!

Anti-racism activist = full-time job,
full-time fighter for just, modern day
abolitionist, freedom fighter, relentless
humanitarian, teacher, soldier, organizer,
workshop designer, healer,

people, crowd, police, government expert.

Full-time is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is,

anti-racism work!
