Listening to Her: An Education in Women's Fashion

"After looking through a fashion magazine that sat on her coffee table for months, Anna decided to purchase a new Louis Vuitton bag. A chocolate colored bag unlike she had purchased before."

These are words from a personal essay I found online. Women who indulge in fashion design across the country appear to be some of the most thoughtful or creative people. A particular style or design opens one's eyes - I learned this from an ex-girlfriend who taught me a lot about women's fashion.

Her and I would go to the mall together. During those outings she would recite name after name. I, focused, would listen. In a matter of months my women's fashion vocabulary was swollen. It has paid to remember the styles she was most interested in because I could lean on what she chose to share with me in future conversations or relationships.

Since then I have experienced a variety of women's styles and fashions. Of course, women - just like most men, have their own unique styles. However, I find that women pay more attention to the feel of the fabric of the clothing they are interested in buying. The feel of the fabric can be just as important as the look.

My ex also educated me about women's shoes. Her favorite back then was Nine West. From my perspective and understanding, Nine West are very stylish women's designer shoes that can be affordable or expensive. She would wear her Nine West on special outings - only the nicest events earned the look of her petite frame in Nine West shoes.

Prettiness and Nine West went hand in hand with her. In two piece suits with Nine West shoes she could not wrong, and neither could other women who chose to market their fashion savvy in similar clothing and shoes. I learned indeed that when a woman had her shoes together with a style suite of some sort, their confidence level shot up two levels higher.

My advice to men: Listen as much as you can when your lady is sharing with you what she prefers in her fashion. You will learn a lot. That education is important when your embarking on love and all of the tangible and intricate things that make up a relationship.
