Using Creativity to Get Through Uncertain and Dangerous Times

What are you doing creatively in these uncertain and dangerous times? Have you decided to busy your mind with being creative an any type of way?

I wonder about this as I type this article influenced by a jumpstart in creativity I am experiencing as we deal with the coronavirus and the stock market plummeting to new levels. However, I must say, that I am generally producing something creative on a regular basis.

But these dark times that threaten a lot of what we are doing as professionals makes me dive into this thinking. It is encouraging me to take a step back to analyze what is going on and how people are spending their times. Are you spending your time with a coloring book? A blank canvas? An instrumental hip-hop track that needs your lyrics over it?

I just left Walgreens not too long ago. What I wound up investing while I was there was a box of 64 Crayola Crayons. I had been wanting a box of them for a while but I also bought them to stay creative and to keep my mind on things to help keep me productive and active as a creative, as a thinker.

We are living in times that can keep us from indulging in artistic endeavors. We are living in times that are challenging us in new ways and are forcing us to think differently. At the moment we have no control over that. From my own experiences, creativity is healing, spiritual and helps me focus a lot more. We are healing ourselves every time we pick up a paint brush, perform a new dance move, or when we sing a song we wrote.

Being creative will help us get through times like these. And if you think you are not creative, watching one of your favorite movies or going to a play can be helpful in the same regard. Indulging into art, creativity takes us away from all of the stresses we are dealing with in life.

Let me honest: I am usually calm, collected, and stress free for the most part. The virus or the stock market plummeting is not affecting me in major ways. I am thankful for that and I will not let what is out of my control move me in ways that might cause me stress or sadness. I wish the same for you all!

Creativity is a beautiful thing. It allows us to tap into worlds we can create on our own and create outcomes that can help us get through the uncertainty and the dangers we might face. As I type this article I am also considering writing a short story or piece of fiction about how we got through these times with the help of Artificial Intelligence and human intuition.

Even the instrumental piano music I am listening to is helping me get through this article. The creativity of the person playing the keys is healing and motivational. We have to find those kinds of things that can bring us joy or comfort. We must also take into consideration that there have been people who have gotten through times like these before us.

As conferences, sports events, and gatherings are being canceled across the United States, where are you finding creativity? Have you thought of something new to do that will help you grab the creative energy all around us? If so, keep going! Do what you do! We will all benefit from your creativity, your innovation.

I will look forward to coloring in my new coloring book once it is bought and seeing how that affects my other talents. I will continue to find awesome piano jazz on YouTube to listen to. I will be writing new rhymes about whatever I feel I need to say. It is creativity that will ease my mind and calm my humanitarian soul as we embark on worrisome days ahead of us.
