Of Nigerian And Cameroonian Ancestry - A Poem

Black, African.
My great, great,
great, great, great
grandfather

Married a beauty
From Cameroon

My future
child's room
will have posters
of Virgina, where
his grandfather 4X
first arrived; where
his people survived;
thrived.

I breathe, Black
in the United States

Where my skin
attracts hate

So I cannot wait
Until I walk in
the Motherland
giving hugs to
my sisters
and my brother-
mans

About Africa,
Nigeria, I will

brag and brag
and brag, and brag
and brag

wearing the colors of
the Nigerian or Cameroon
flag!
